A Wilmington Tradition

Be part of one of the oldest and most iconic races in Wilmington, NC & join us for the YMCA's annual Tri-Span 5K, 10K & Livestrong Mile.

Both 5K and 10K courses wind through historic downtown Wilmington and along the picturesque Cape Fear Riverwalk which hugs the bank of the Cape Fear River. The 5K is an out and back course through downtown Wilmington. The 10K course is what makes Tri-Span such a unique race. Runners will have the opportunity to run the three downtown bridges. The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will take runners across the Cape Fear River. The Thomas Rhodes Bridge will give runners a birds eye view of the USS North Carolina and the downtown Wilmington riverfront. Last, the Isabell Holmes bridge will cross back over the Cape Fear River and bring runners back into downtown Wilmington and to the finish line.

Back by popular demand - the LIVESTRONG MILE. Join us as we honor friends and family whose lives have been impacted by cancer. This is a non-timed 1-mile walk or run and we invite everyone to participate.

Cancer is a life-changing journey that brings significant physical and emotional challenges. That’s why the Y has partnered with LIVESTRONG Foundation to offer Livestrong at the YMCA — a free, exercise-based health and wellness program designed to help adult cancer survivors regain strength, confidence, and overall well-being.

This year marks 15 years of LIVESTRONG at the YMCA! Together we've supported over 575 cancer survivors on their journey to recovery. With your help, we can continue providing this life-changing program to those who need it most!

The emotional burden we feel after surviving a disease that puts us near death is a scary and heavy load that takes a long time to overcome, and it makes our full recovery very difficult. The Livestrong program gave me not only the fitness tools I needed to improve my physical health after a devastating diagnosis and treatment, but also the emotional support my soul needed to start enjoying the rest of my life.

Being around others that have suffered like me and survived it, has been a gift to me.

Having our family support in tough circumstances is key, but the community support I have received from everyone in the Livestrong program was exactly what I needed to start climbing out of the hole and being happy again.

Before you run over the bridge - meet us for a beer under the bridge! Stop by our pre-run party for packet pickup & volunteer check-in!
$1 from each beer sold will be donated to LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. We hope to see you there!

5:30 am - 6:30 am Last Chance Packet Pick Up (no race bibs will be distributed after 6:30 am so please plan accordingly! Arrive early! - PPU will be located at the ticket window at Live Oak Bank Pavilion

6:50 am - National Anthem and Race Line Up
7:00 am - 10K Start (Red Bibs)
7:10 am - 5K Start (Blue Bibs)
7:12 am - LIVESTRONG MILE (Yellow Bibs)
8:15 am - Awards

All participants receive a shirt, finisher medal & post race refreshments

Guarantee your choice of a tee, ladies tank or men's tank when you register by June 12, 2026. Registrations after this date may select from extra inventory online until all shirt sizes are sold out.
*Ladies' tanks run small so please size up one size larger than you would typically wear.
