The $5K is designed as a low-key race for the athlete who wants to run a tune-up race to prepare for their targeted event, the novice who may be intimidated by the larger events, and runners/walkers who want an event to test themselves without breaking the bank.
This $5K race series is sponsored by the Twin City Track Club. You do not have to be a TCTC member to participate; however, we think you would enjoy the benefits of a TCTC membership and we would love to have you. Members run the $5K series for FREE.....and receive a discount on ALL TCTC sponsored races!
The races will occur at Jamison Park, which is located next to Meadowlark Middle School (401 Meadowlark Dr.) The course is a flat out and back on the Muddy Creek Greenway that starts at Jamison Park, heads toward Robinhood Road, and then turns around and returns to the Park. This is a PR course for the competitive runner and a nice easy course for the novice.
Registration for all races in the $5K series will open on March 1. Registration will remain open until 6:10 PM (5:40 pm October). Bib pickup begins @ 5:45 PM (5:15pm October).
As the name says - $5.
However, Twin City Track Club members receive a 100% discount on all races in the $5K series! So for the cost of only 4 of the 7 races in the series.....you could join the club and enjoy member benefits for an entire year! Join the Twin City Track Club!
Yes, we need you. Contact Terry Wilmoth: firstname.lastname@example.org
In an effort to provide a fun level of competition for everyone, we will once again be keeping "score"! Each runner will receive points for overall placement and age group placement. First place will receive 100 pts, second place 99 pts, third 98 pts, and so on. Every athlete receives points no matter what time you cross the finish line! At the end of the season we will tally all points and award the top three overall male and female athletes and the top three in each age group (male and female). Using a 100-point system rewards those who run in more races. For example: if a runner finishes first in 6 out of the 7 races, he or she receives 600 points. But a runner who finishes second in 6 races and dead last in the seventh still receives more points than the first runner. Our goal is to get people to participate!!
Yes, there will be awards! To be eligible for awards you must run in a minimum of 5 races in the series!!
