Description
The 5k for Cam fundraiser, Saturday January 26th, is an officially timed 5K race and fun run. Proceeds benefit Cameron Elliott and his family, and this year will also be used to benefit other families by sponsoring them to attend a conference to be held in the Fall of 2019. Cameron has a rare condition called Apert Syndrome. To date he has undergone 16 surgeries and numerous hospital stays, interventions, and therapy. But Cameron is a warrior! He is every bit of a eight year old and he faces his challenges with a smile! With the help of Apert International and the Forsyth County Special Olympics, we hope to raise awareness for children like Cameron so that we can help others understand how to talk and treat others with differences.
We will have an officially timed 5k as well as a fun run for kids and individuals with disabilities. There will be vendors and refreshments, and awards will be given for the top 3 male and female in each age category. We are so excited to continue this race and hope to make it an annual event in our Winston Salem community for years to come.
