Description

Hobby Trails To You is turning 10!

Join us for the 10th anniversary of Hobby Trails, a fun and challenging 5K/10K trail race.

What: Cross country style start that quickly funnels into the woods of Hobby Park. Single track trail 5K and 10K course filled with roots, rocks, a few inclines, declines, a smattering of poison ivy and an occasional biker or snake (it’s in the woods of NC, after all).

Who: Well, you and your running friends, and the fine folks from TCTC who know how to put on a race.

When: August 8 at 7:55am for the 5K and 8:00am for the 10K. RACES WILL START ON TIME!

Where: Hobby Park - 2301 West Clemmonsville Road, W-S, NC (36.0304° N, 80.3029° W to be really precise)

Why: There’s lots of shade. Show how bad-a** you as you race through an undulating, technical single track course a few miles outside the city of Winston-Salem. Then proudly wear your tri-blend race shirt (it’s so soft, you might opt to sleep in it). Register by the end of July to guarantee your shirt and size.

The race is capped at 200 participants.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not an experienced trail runner, what should I expect?

You’ll probably trip, maybe full out fall. If you do, avoid falling on plants with three shiny leaves. But seriously, no need for experience, just a sense of adventure and keep your eyes on the trail!

Should I carry a water bottle?

If one 5K and two 10K water stops aren’t enough to satiate your thirst, yes.

What if it rains?

You will get wet. Thunder? Lightning? OK, the races might start late in that case.

Will there be awards (beyond satisfaction of completion)?

Yes! Plus, food and drinks, in the SHADE of a picnic area!

It’s easy to get lost on those trails, will they be marked?

You bet they will. No orienteering required (but you may need to do some log-jumping). Just follow the pink dots!

Can I run with my dog?

Not a great idea. Required leash + maneuvering a technical trail = problems for all.

Can I run with a jogging stroller?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
