About Winter Seminar
The TCTC Winter Seminar is an annual event held every year since 1988 that features runner focused speakers in a social setting. The primary purpose is to inspire, educate and entertain seminar attendees. The seminar is open to anyone who registers to attend.
This year, we are hosting our Winter Seminar the weekend of January 2-3, 2026 with American middle-distance runner & local native Craig Engels! Craig will participate in the Frosty Fifty races on Saturday, January 3 and will be the featured speaker for evening events.
The Winter Seminar includes both a Social Event and a Talk. Registrants can sign up for both the social and the talk, or for the talk only. The social event and the talk will take place JDL Fasttrack at 2502 Empire Drive in west Winston-Salem.

Engels attended Ronald W. Reagan High School in Pfafftown, North Carolina, until he graduated in 2012. By the time he graduated from Reagan in 2012, he had set his school's records in the 800 meters, mile, and 3200 meters. His best high school mile time was recorded at the 2012 Adidas Grand Prix Dream Mile, where he ran 4:03.96, which is the state high school record mile time for North Carolina. Throughout high school, Engels was coached by RunCCG coach, Chris Catton.
In His Own Words
I am Craig Engels, Pfafftown local, and huge North Carolina guy. My greatest joy in life is new experiences, movement and socializing. I love doing anything and everything outside, and that includes my job of professional running. This typically quenches my ADHD need for dopamine. I’m pretty much always stoked and my job has allowed me to travel the world and spread this stoke. My dream in life is to have as many kids as possible, buy land, and start an RV/glamping business. I have always been torn between being an environmentalist (major in renewable energy) and an absolute capitalist (MBA). This juxtaposition has lead me to MANY business ideas in my life and one day I fully intend to commit my energy to one
. Recently I tandem biked to the Grand Canyon from Flagstaff (83 miles) with my girlfriend. The next day I hit 2 running workouts in one day, and this blend of living and working hard is usually how life goes for me. I love epic adventures and can’t wait to one day just hit massive trail runs, bike rides, skiing, climbs, and anything that comes my way.
