Distance: Swim: The Pier-2-Pier Swim Race (in memory of Ryan Alea Young) is an annual open water ocean swim race at beautiful Wrightsville Beach, NC, and is hosted by the CAPE FEAR AQUATIC CLUB and the Wilmington Family YMCA.
The race course is ~ 2 miles between the Johnny Mercer and Crystal Piers (1.71 miles along the beach, plus the swim to and from the "dry" finish and start lines).
Parking & Chip Pick-Up:
All participants park at Wrightsville Beach Town Hall Google map Onsite Packet pickup: Saturday 7:00am to 8:15am. Participants receive their timing chips and are body marked at this location (race number on hand only)
Early packet pickup will be located at Toad Hollow Swim and More from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday Sept 11th. 260 Racine Dr #6, Wilmington, NC 28403. Google map
Due to COVID concerns, participants will not be shuttled to the start of race. Limited paid parking is available in Wrightsville Beach near the start of the race. General free parking is also available at Wrightsville Beach Town Hall. This is about a 1.5 mile walk to the start of the race.
Required pre-race briefing at swim start location at 8:45 AM
Participants will be able to leave personal belongings in a provided pre-numbered bag which will be transported to the swim finish location.
There will no finish line award ceremony due to COVID concerns. A video will be made and distributed online stating overall and age group winners.
Upon finish participants will be asked to return to their cars to avoid mass gatherings.
