Miles For Team Jack

Miles for Team Jack is an annual virtual miles challenge directed by Fleet Feet and the Team Jack Foundation. 100% of the proceeds support the foundation and its mission to fund impactful childhood brain cancer research. While proceeds benefit childhood brain cancer research, the challenge is an opportunity to raise awareness for all childhood cancers! Unfortunately, we all know a youngster that is battling or has battled. Run or walk for them this September, and get your friends and family to join you!

The challenge came to life in 2020 during a difficult time for all non-profit organizations, communities, families, and individuals. More specifically, our team was inspired by the Team Jack Foundation Founder, Andy Hoffman's story. Andy, father of Jack Hoffman, was an advocate and an influential voice in the awareness of childhood brain cancer. After Jack was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011, Andy dedicated his time to fighting with Jack and raising research funds and awareness for the disease. He was the co-founder of the Team Jack Foundation and ran a thriving law practice. Andy was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in late July 2020. On March 1, 2021, he passed away surrounded by his family. Now, to honor Andy’s legacy, we all must pick up where he left off and make an impact for these kids. The first three years of Miles for Team Jack totaled nearly $75,000 raised for childhood brain cancer research! We can’t wait for this year’s Miles for Team Jack to continue to make an impact on this disease and uphold the legacy of Andy Hoffman.

- 50 Miles Running - Individual or Team

-100 Miles Running - Individual or Team

-25 miles Walking - Individual

- 50 Miles Walking - Individual or Team 

- 100 Miles Walking - Individual or Team 

How it works: 
Individuals: Participants can choose to register as a team or individual for the running or walking options of 25, 50 or 100 miles. The goal remains the same for each individual participant: 25, 50, or 100 miles through the entire month for the runners and walkers. You must log your miles each day or for sure weekly to be entered to win prizes. Please don't wait until the end of the month to log your total miles.

Teams: Teams can be groups of 10 or less participants. Example: Team Fleet Feet Lincoln registered under the 50 Mile Challenge. You have 8 participants that want to join Team Fleet Feet Lincoln. Each individual team member would register under Team: Fleet Feet Lincoln. Members of the team would still have the goal to run/walk 50 Miles individually by the end of the month, but also Run Signup will automatically compile their miles with their other team members to compete against other teams! 

We encourage families, friends, businesses, gyms, etc. to create their own teams as a part of the challenge! 

Prizes: For this challenge, there are no single "winners/places"; we are all setting our own challenge with the same end goal! You will be entered into a grand prize drawing if you hit the mileage goal you registered for, the top fundraising team will win a grand prize, the top individual fundraiser will win a grand prize, and our social butterflies will have a chance to win various prizes throughout the challenge! Cost: $25 - for each participant 

Each participant receives a Miles for Team Jack t-shirt and Medal! 

Shipping:
You can choose to have your t-shirt and medal mailed to you. The shipping fee will be $8 and will ship out starting September 24th. 
In-store Pick-Up:
If you choose to pick up your t-shirt in-store there will be NO additional charge. Pick-up will start on September 24th at Fleet Feet Lincoln and Fleet Feet Omaha!

Mileage Tracking:
To track your daily results click on the Team Jack home page: https://runsignup.com/Race/NE/Lincoln/MilesForTeamJackFoundation. In the top right hand side click 'find a participant'. Under that tab search your name. On that screen click 'more details'. On that next screen click submit virtual results. If you can submit your results daily or at least weekly by clicking 'add activity' on the bottom of the results screen in order to be eligible for the grand prize! Make sure to put your daily reminder in your phone starting September 1st!
