Description
The annual Arbor Day 5K Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at 9:00 a.m. The in-person run will take you through some of the best scenery in southeast Nebraska. You will travel in the footsteps of J. Sterling Morton as the route begins in Arbor Lodge State Historical Park and goes through the Arbor Day Farm trails. Portions of the race will be on brick, gravel and pavement. Details about the exact route of the race will be available before the start of the race. Strollers are welcome as well as fur babies on a leash.
This event can also be enjoyed virtually! Please sign up by April 7th in order to receive your run packet.
In the true spirit of Arbor Day, every runner will have a tree planted in their honor at the Nebraska National Forest’s Pine Ridge District that has suffered from catastrophic wildfires throughout the area. These trees will provide habitat for a variety of wildlife — including the pygmy nuthatch, the northern long-eared bat, and big-game animals — and also support the health of the Chadron Creek and White River watersheds.
