Description

Get back to “safe racing” with one last St. Paddies hurrah at the Inaugural Hop + Grind Hoppy Leprechaun 5K starting and finishing at Oyster River High School. Post-race celebrations will take place at the restaurant and will include a plethora of food specials and drink deals. Proceeds from the event will be allocated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Want to race virtually? A $5 additional fee will be applied to your registration fee for shipping. 

Packet Pickup/Race Day Reg: Will open at 8:30AM at the High School. Registration will close at 9:55am. Please do not plan on arriving earlier than 8:30AM. As part of our strategy for “safe racing,” you will be assigned an arrival time window to limit lines and pre-race mingling.  As of now, there will be no pre-race pickup unless otherwise noted here or announced. 

Parking: All parking will be in the High School and Middle School lots. We recommend leaving your cars and walking over to the restaurant. 

Team Category:
Own a business? Part of a running club or fraternity?  This is an easy and fun way to recruit your friends. Teams must consist of at least 2+ people. Prizes will be awarded for the largest & fastest team. 

Event Swag: All participants will receive a custom event pint glass. Pom pom winter beanies and long-sleeve event t-shirts will be available as an add on through registration if you are interested. 

Awards: The award ceremony will take place at 11:30AM at Hop + Grind. If you can’t hang around or don’t plan on attending the post-race celebration, other arrangements can be made to claim your award.

Top M/F in each age group: Under 14, 15-19 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Beneficiary: 100% of the event proceeds and any additional donations contributed will be allocated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Bobby Marcotte, Owner and Head Chef of Hop + Grind, brand new sister restaurant Rise + Grind and Tuckaway Tavern has been a longtime supporter of St. Jude’s in honor of his late daughter, Allana, who lost her battle to Cancer at a young age of 13 in 2014.  

Can’t make the event due to a conflict or not comfortable for in-person racing? 
You can participate virtually with us!! We learned a lot from the 2020 pandemic, one of which being the limitless virtual world, where scheduling conflicts and traveling are no longer a problem. You'll have all weekend, starting March 19th, to complete your virtual event, while receiving all the glory including all the swag and even an opportunity to submit your race results. Unfortunately, you won't be eligible for awards, but you will have the opportunity to download a finishers certificate upon completion.

Race Refunds & Event Cancellations: We understand life happens and things may come up. We’ve implemented a defer and transfer policy for FREE up to a certain date for all High5EM events. Transfers or deferments made after said date will incur a small fee for administration purposes. In the case of event cancellation due to public safety, inclement weather or some other unforeseen power at be, the event will be rescheduled for March 27th. In the event the race cannot be held on the 27th, the entire event will then become virtual.
