Description
Join us to run/walk for the Spooktacular Run for the Animals. Participants are encouraged to come in scary costumes or dressed as their favorite marine animal.
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) is the only authorized rescue, rehabilitation, and release facility for marine mammals and the authorized first responders for sea turtle strandings & disentanglements in the State of New Jersey. The MMSC is a 501 (c) (3) private nonprofit organization. Our life-saving work is funded by private donations from the public, fundraisers, grants, and retail gift shop sales.
As a non-profit, our funding relies heavily on donations, grants, retail sales, and fundraising events to continue our life-saving work.
Race Rules and Additional Information
RACE RULES - 5K
We are estimating that most runners will finish the course within 1 hours and 5 minutes (20-minute miles). The course will go over mostly paved roads, with a small We suggest that as an athlete, you train for this event because of the distance and conditions.
CHECK-IN ON RACE DAY
8:00 AM -Check-in tables will be set up at the rear door of the Brigantine Community Center (41st Street side) The GPS address of the Brigantine Community Center is 265 42nd Street.
8:30 Registration Closes
8:45 (15 mins prior to the race). Check in closes,
Participants in the 5K Run will receive their bibs and timing chips at this time. Participants must be pre-registered/paid online prior to checking-in; online registration closes at 8:30!
SWAG
In our effort to tackle waste, we have kept the race price low, but added on options to purchase on event T-shirt or seal plushy. This will also give additional funding to us support our dedication to the Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release of sick and injured marine mammals and sea turtles.
All pre-ordered swag will be handed out at the conclusion of the event, so single racers do not have to worry about storing.
CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST
Join your event team and Run for the Animal supporters for a continental breakfast and awards presentation at the Brigantine Community Center immediately following the event's. There will be a separate section set up for those of you that are attending with your pets, complete with doggie treats!

SEVERE WEATHER PLAN
This event is "rain or shine," meaning that the race will be held even in inclement weather. However, Event Organizers reserve the right to cancel this event if conditions are determined to be unsafe for participants. This includes but is not limited to severe thunderstorms with lightening, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc., or any other conditions as dictated by local authorities. An email, text, and/or social media broadcast will be sent out advising if a cancellation will occur. No refunds will be given.

First 300 racers across the finish line will receive a participation medal.
1st Place Male, 1st Place Female, and First12 and Under 5 K Racer will receive a Marine Mammal Stranding Center Hoodie
2nd Place Male, 2nd Place Female, and Second12 and Under 5 K Racer will receive a Marine Mammal Stranding Center T-shirt
3rd Place Male, 3rd Place Female, and Third Place12 and Under Racer 5 K Racer will receive a Marine Mammal Stranding Center Magnet
Best Costume for Male, Female, and 12 and Under will receive a Marine Mammal Stranding Center Hoodie.
Awards will be distributed at the conclusion of the race at the Run for the Animals Continental Breakfast.
