To keep our community safe, this year’s Hemophilia Association of New Jersey’s Run/Walk will be our 1st ever Virtual Experience! Our annual community event and fundraising efforts are critical for supporting our bleeding disorders community served by HANJ and we are most appreciative of your ongoing support. We promise to deliver a socially engaging community experience for all with this event!
The Hemophilia Association of New Jersey is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization with a mission to improve the quality of life for persons with a bleeding disorder by providing and maintaining access to highly qualified medical treaters and successfully proven medical regimens. Founded in August 1971 by 10 concerned families, we offer assistance to persons with a bleeding disorder and their families from our office located in East Brunswick, New Jersey. During this unusual and difficult time dealing with COVID-19 the bleeding disorders community are even more vulnerable and isolated. Funds raised from this yearly community event are critically needed to support those served by HANJ. To learn more about HANJ call us at 732-249-6000 or visit us at www.hanj.org
Hemophilia is a rare disorder in which your blood doesn't clot normally because it lacks sufficient blood-clotting proteins (clotting factors). Hemophilia is a mostly inherited genetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to make blood clots, a process needed to stop bleeding. This results in people bleeding for a longer time after an injury, easy bruising, and an increased risk of bleeding inside joints or the brain.
Since we can't meet in person, our Facebook Event Page will act as our Virtual Event Venue in 2020. This is where we can all interact, share our goals, share our results, post pictures of our bibs, our shirts, and our run, hashtag our posts, get new information, and be a part of the Live Kick-Off on Sunday November 08, 2020. Click Here to go the Facebook Event Page and then click GOING!
Join us at 10:00 a.m. on November 8th for a lively, energetic, and fun live kick-off LIVE from Heavenly Farms via our Facebook Event page!
Make your virtual participation in HANJ Virtual Run/Walk more tangible by sharing your efforts! You can run/walk as many times throughout the event window as you would like. Take your best time and submit by November 22nd. Here is how you do that:

Sign up and run or walk anytime through November 22, 2020 at https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Anywhere/HemophiliaRunWalk
Participants in live fitness events wear bib #s during the event. We hope you will print yours and wear it when completing your run or walk. It’s one extra way for us all to be connected through our shared Virtual Experience! As a bonus, we'll be able to spread the word about bleeding disorders further than ever before as you run or walk through your neighborhood.

Safety! We want each and every participant to have a fun, healthy, and safe event experience! In these unprecedented times, we as your event organizers, are not able to look after your safety at our event site or on the run and walk courses. Please ensure your own safety and the safety of others while participating.
ALWAYS listen to your body while engaging in fitness activities. As per the CDC's website: "We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms." With this is mind, we do ask that YOU put public health and safety ABOVE competition and athletic goals at this time. While out running or walking, please make sure you and others you encounter on your chosen path are maintaining the minimum recommended social distancing gap of 6'.
FUN, FITNESS, & FUNDRAISING
Above all, get out (or stay in) and have a great time while supporting HANJ and personal fitness! Your registration, team recruitment, and fundraising efforts ARE making a difference for the bleeding disorders community in New Jersey. While our normal routines may have shifted, still have FUN, be FIT, and SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER!
