It is with a heavy heart that we have to tell you that this year’s LIVE, IN PERSON Action For Distraction is being cancelled by The Foundation of Morristown Medical Center out of an abundance of caution for the flu, COVID-19 and other seasonal illnesses, as well as in keeping with the CDC guidelines on social distancing. While we are cancelling the live event on May 9th, we ARE keeping the event’s “Virtual 5K” option open!
The Rice Family has been spearheading this event for 8 years now, and our mission remains the same as what it has been since Zach came up with the idea when he was 10 and healing from his own medical issues: Distracting kids from their pain while they're in the hospital.
-- What does doing the event virtually mean? --
You sign up, and we will send you your bib, medal and t-shirt (eventually .... we'll get the shirt out as soon as the printing company is open again) in the mail. You put on the bib, run or walk your heart out at a location of your choosing that allows for social distancing, and proudly don your finisher's medal for doing something good for yourself, and the 25,000 kids that go through Goryeb Children's Hospital every year.
