Description
Join the Sisterhood of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/ Congregation B’nai Israel in our 9th annual Purim 5K RUN & 1 MILE WALK starting Sunday March 7th 2021.
COVID-19, it is still with us, but we are not going to let that stop us, are we?
So for 2021, the Purim 5K RUN & 1 MILE WALK will be virtual.
What does that mean, you may ask? Well, online registration is the same as always, but instead of driving to Fair Lawn and running in a crowd, you run or walk on your choice of time and at your choice of place. Run in your backyard, a local street, your favorite park, a treadmill. Run wherever you happen to be: east coast, west coast, all around the world. But please remember to observe CDC recommended guidelines for social distancing, etc.
How does it work? Register online anytime until March 14, 2021. The fee for our first virtual race is only $10. You will be sent a beautiful, downloadable virtual bib and a link to submit your time and photos. Complete your run anytime between 12:00:01am of March 7, 2021 and 8:30pm on March 14, 2021. All finishers will receive a beautiful certificate of completion. This is a great chance to involve more of your friends and family. Compare times, locations, weather and New Year resolutions.
Unfortunately, due to present conditions, we will not be awarding trophies or medals for this year’s race.
New this year will be a Purim Costume Contest. Submit a photo of yourself in a costume that you ran or walked or just wore and be eligible for a prize to be mailed to your home. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Show your Purim or dress up spirit!!! You will be able to upload your photo right after you submit your virtual results. Submitting your virtual results can be done via the Results tab.
All registration fees this year will be directly donated to Jewish Family and Children's Services of Northern New Jersey (JFCSNNJ).
JFCSNNJ services are open to anyone who requests aid regardless of religion or race.
They have stepped up their services during the COVID-19 pandemic including keeping the food pantry stocked, offering Meals on Wheels to the homebound, emergency assistance for medication, housing, and medical insurance, COVID-19 zoom support groups as well as individual therapy.
Our support will help keeps these programs up and running.
Thank you for joining us for this virtual event and for supporting the Sisterhood of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/ Congregation B’nai Israel.
