The Move for Mind Kickoff Event

Mental health cannot be seen; it does not look like a broken bone, or a bruised knee. Nevertheless, mental health and wellness can be just as painful and equally as debilitating as these physical ailments. Mental illness does not necessarily manifest itself physically, but rather in our thoughts, our emotions, our outlook, our functioning, and our ability to lead fulfilling and happy lives.
 
The framework of our non-profit emphasizes optimal wellness. We believe optimal wellness is only achieved through fostering and prioritizing both physical and mental health; one is not fully well without the other.
 
Mental health can only be addressed if someone is willing to speak up and ask for help. Unfortunately, a stigma exists at both a national and global level that hinders the likelihood one might seek help in order to find recovery. The stigma that suppresses mental health awareness is causing individuals to suffer and lives to be lost. What an immense shame it is that each and every one of us have the power to possibly make a dramatic change in the lives of others, if we were only willing to take that step, start the conversation, and chip away at a stigma that is suffocating our wellness.
 
It is our hope that through our organization, we can incite a dialogue around a topic that is not so easily discussed, making it something every single human feels comfortable exploring. It is only through discussion, understanding, and acceptance that a difference can be made.
