Description
Breast cancer is something that has probably touched the lives of almost everyone. Every year, almost 300,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in both women and men. Every year, there are more than 40,000 breast cancer deaths. We can all do something about this!
To raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the JFKMHS National Honor Society and the American Cancer Society Club are hosting a virtual run/walk! In the past, we have always hosted this event at the JFK track, but due to COVID restrictions, we are taking our event virtual. Between October 26, 2020 and November 13, 2020, participants must run or walk at least 1 mile, at your own pace, at any time and anywhere! You can split your distance into multiple runs/walks or do it all at once! Just use some sort of GPS tracking program (Strava, RunKeeper, Nike+, etc.) and submit your progress**. At the end of the event, the teachers and students with the top 3 distances will receive prizes!
- # 1 Teacher and Student - $25
- #2 Teacher and Student - $15
- #3 Teacher and Student - $10
In addition, students will receive one hour of community service time for every mile walked!***
This event is open to everyone! Get your family and friends involved! Make a day of getting out there and walking or running for a good cause. Spread the word, spread the positivity. Together we can work toward a cure.
- **If you have trouble logging your mileage, please see the help page here.
- *** If you are student who needs volunteer hours signed, at the culmination of the race, please contact either Nichole Lesniak (nichole.lesniak@woodbridge.k12.nj.us) or Colleen Kurowsky (colleen.kurowsky@woodbridge.k12.nj.us) and we will arrange to have confirmation of your hours mailed to you.
