Description
The HunterFest 5K is back for its third year! This breathtaking USATF-NJ Grand Prix qualifier 5K in Liberty State Park offers one of the world's most spectacular views of the New York City skyline and Lady Liberty. All levels are welcome. This will be a perfect recovery run for locals competing in the Jersey City Marathon a few weeks prior as it is a flat, fast course. The top three overall male and female finishers will receive cash prizes! Bring your family and friends who will cheer you on while enjoying HunterFest, where they can sample delicious local cuisine, play carnival games and more.
The Course
Be ready to get your PR on when you run this flat, scenic, certified USATF New Jersey 500 Point 5K. It's an out-and-back starting on Pedestrian Path in Liberty State Park that follows the Hudson Riverfront Walkway where runners can bask in the beauty of New York harbor.
Transportation
You have a few options! Liberty State Park is accessible via ferry from Manhattan, as well as Path train and Light Rail. Get directions here. Note: traffic in Jersey City can be unpredictable as can weekend public transportation so, we recommend that you give yourself extra time to arrive, park, and walk to the registration area/race start.
Parking
There is parking available in the ferry parking lot of Liberty State Park.

Register now by clicking the sign up button above! Race day registration will take place on the North Cove Field of Liberty State Park.
Event is rain or shine! There are no transfers, no credits, no refunds. Race Director reserves the right to change the date, modify or cancel the race.
Event schedule
Runner registration and bag check: 9 AM to 9:30 AM
Race start: 10 AM
Festival start: 10 AM
Race end: 11 AM
Awards: 11 AM (Awards will be given to the top three males and females overall. Age group awards will be given to the top three in each of the following age groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+)
Festival end: 2 PM

Certified race results will be posted live at the event and later in the day on this website.

HuntersWorld gives teenagers in Jersey City a safe place free of judgment to talk about their emotions with the support of their peers. Guided by our certified teen mentors, mentees learn to share their feelings, which helps them build a strong foundation of self-worth that they will continue to foster throughout high school, college, and adulthood.

COVID Safety Guidelines
- Masks not mandatory but suggested while waiting in lines at pickup or registration, traveling to and from your transportation, using the restroom and waiting for the event to start or finish.
- Participants are encouraged to practice social distancing - ensure six feet of separation with people not in your party.
- Hand sanitizer available throughout the course and race site.
- Don't show up if you are feeling ill or have flu like symptoms.
- Do not spit. Cover your mouth if you have to cough or sneeze.

HunterFest gets bigger and better each year. Your organization can help HuntersWorld make our 2024 race our most impactful event yet! Word-of-mouth is building within the Hudson County fitness community around our USATF-NJ Grand Prix qualifier 5K, with the world's most spectacular views of the New York City skyline and Lady Liberty, plus we offer a celebratory post-race festival complete with local foods, cornhole and other party games.
A successful 2024 race event will ensure that we can serve more and more teen mentors with our robust 8-week training and certification program, designed by a staff social worker to prepare teen mentors to work with participating teenagers from all over Hudson County. Mentors are prepared to cover such topics as: feelings, trust, peer pressure, coping mechanisms, counselling techniques, suicide prevention, substance abuse, LGBTQ issues, racism, violence, consent, and more.
