With 7, 14, 21, and 28-mile  distance options, the UltraTrek Challenge at Lake Rickabear in Kinnelon, NJ, is a scenic trek through the trails and winding paths of the area. This event will have rolling hills with a maximum elevation gain of 350 feet ( course map coming soon! ). Trekkers will encounter varied terrain including rocky trails following a lake and along a ridgeline, creek crossings, beach views and dirt paths. Participants will journey through varied terrain to push their mental and physical capabilities. Level up the experience by adding a 20 pound or 35 pound weighted vest or pack to earn additional swag. Can you make it to the finish line before the 10 hour cutoff?

This event is perfect for beginners, seasoned vets, and those looking for a personal best. The course will be extremely well marked with great aid stations along the way! 

Trek Day Information

UltraTrek Rickabear kicks off at 7am on September 28, 2025. The starting line will be open from 7am to 10am with the post-trek party starting at 11am. It is not a race, but it is a timed event and walkers will have 10 hours to complete the course. Bibs can be mailed or picked up the morning of the event. **IF YOU REGISTER AFTER 9/21/25, BIBS MUST BE PICKED UP IN PERSON. A friend or relative can pick up a bib if you can't attend. Complimentary parking is available at an offsite parking lot located 5-10 minutes from the event with shuttles running back and forth the entire day. A charter bus running from Midtown directly to Lake Rickabear will also be available the day of the event. Finishers will receive a custom t-shirt and velcro patch. Level 3 and 4 participants will also qualify to earn our coveted UltraTrek Grey Wolf medal. Refreshments and food will be available after the race.

UltraTrek Lake Rickabear NJ will take place at Lake Ricjabear Camp, 414 Kinnelon Rd, Kinnelon, NJ 07405. Free parking is located 5-10 minutes offsite with complimentary shuttles running throughout the day.

Holiday Inn Express Haskell-Wayne - Hotel located just off I-287, 15 minutes from Lake Rickabear, in a quiet setting on Twin Lakes. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the indoor heated pool after you work out in the Fitness Center. Mornings start with a Continental Breakfast featuring Coffee, Tea, Fruits, Muffins, Bagels and Yogurt. You can also check out the beautiful Skylands Botanical Gardens. For the best shopping in the area, Willowbrook Mall or the Palisades Center.

Hilton Garden Inn Wayne - About a 30 minute drive from Lake Rickabear, the Hilton Garden Inn Wayne is a peaceful place to stay to get ready for the UltraTrek.Ice Vault Arena is a short walk away, and shopping and dining is within five-minutes. Enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub, fitness center, Garden Grille and Bar, and 24-hour Suite Shop, serving drinks and snacks.

Course Information

UltraTrek Lake Rickabear is an incredible trail, passing a beautiful lake, beach, and tree lined, rocky paths. It is a 7-mile loop, allowing participants to easily choose between our 7, 14, 21 or 28 mile distance options. Course map coming soon!
