“Mr. Evans, you’re fat..."

“Mr. Evans, you’re fat. You can either lose weight or die.” This is what a doctor told Martinus Evans in a 2012 evaluation for persistent hip pain.

Martinus defiantly created a third option, taking his life into his own hands, proving his doctor and everyone who ever doubted him, wrong by running a marathon.

Since then, Martinus has completed 8 marathons, including Boston, New York, and Berlin, and more than one hundred other long-distance races. He was the first plus-sized ambassador for Adidas and has been on the cover of Runner’s World.

NEW BOOK: Slow AF Run Club

Using his experience, Martinus challenges the conventional narrative of what a runner looks like in his new book, Slow AF Run Club: The Ultimate Guide for Anyone Who Wants to Run.

Books are available for pre-order when registering and they will be available to purchase at the event.

Martinus makes the case that everyone is a runner. As long as your legs are moving faster than when you’re walking, you are running.

A body-liberation manifesto and guide to running all in one, Slow AF Run Club works to help empower people to embrace the body they have right now, lace up their shoes, and MOVE. Martinus is the example and role model, doing everything he tells us about in the book.
