Description
See how far you can run in one hour!
This is a free event organized by the Essex Running Club for Columbus Day weekend and inspired by the new world records set for this event in September. You just need to start your GPS and see how far you can run in one hour. You can run on a track, on the road, in a park, on a trail or anywhere you like. Just submit your results when you are done and report how many miles you ran.
This event was inspired by four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah who broke the one-hour world record on his return to the track at the Diamond League meet in Brussels on Friday, September 4, 2020 when he ran 13.254 miles (21,330 meters) at an average pace of 4:32 per mile, bettering the old record of 13.225 miles (21,285 meters) set by Haile Gebrselassie in 2007. Sifan Hussein from the Netherlands also broke the women's world record at the same meet running 11.763 miles (18,930 meters) at an average pace of 5:06 per mile to smash the old record of 11.506 miles (18,517 meters) set by Dire Tune in 2008.
