Description

A 1-month exploratory race during October 2021 where participants can be solo or up to teams of 2-5. Each group will be provided a list of specific objectives they can complete. Each activity is assigned a certain amount of points based on its difficulty. The team with the most points by the end is declared the winner. The entire list includes a wide array of running-based objectives that welcome any beginner, expert, the parent that has to stay in the neighborhood, or even someone who can't run.

This event will be for the entire duration of October. The list of objectives will be made public and given in advance on September 14th.

To register for this race is FREE. But we ask each participant to raise $100/decade of age. Meaning, if you are 40 years old to raise $400 or if you are 45 years old to raise $450.

How To Upload Results? Every participant is recommended to join "The Hunt 2021" Facebook group. This is your one-stop location to ask any race directors questions, upload your results, and will be used as a leaderboard for regular updates on points. By the end of the event, it will be a wide collection of photos, selfies, running results, and random fun.

The Rules

1. All activities must show proof of completion by uploading the results to "The Hunt 2021 Facebook Group." If your activity requires a distance and picture, make sure to include both. For example, if it's "complete at least a mile with a new runner," get a photo of you and the runner as well as your Strava/GPS results for that mile.

2. Every objective can only be completed once by a team, they can not be repeated.

3. If it does not specify that an objective can be relayed, then assume it can not be.

4. You are responsible for any support for your team.

5. Registration for your team is free, but we ask that you commit to raising $100/decade age. Example, 30 years old = $300, 45 years old = $450

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email James Leitner at James@missioncleanwater.org or call him at (908) 327-4618.

Strategies for an Effective Team

This event is designed for anyone to be able to participate regardless of their running background. The list of objectives are running related but can include anything from road running, trail running, volunteering, weird whimsicalness, and hard challenges.

It is our goal with this event to give each team enough challenges to be engaged the entire month of October. Events are designed to allow committed runners, people that have to stay in their neighborhood, and masochists to be able to team up.

Who is MissionCleanWater?

MissionCleanWater is a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to bring clean drinking water and sanitation to underserved communities. Our organization is focused around the fact that 60% of all clean water project in Africa have failed. Instead of rushing through the development of projects, we focus heavily at the grassroots level. We work everyday on the ground with communities to develop a solution together. Through community relationship building, training, and long-term involvement, we want to fully maximize the investment of clean water and bring out its full potential.

Our team has been involved with the trail running community both as a hobby and professionally. We want to develop new race experiences that challenge runners to be more engaged, think on their feet, and work together. From these races, registration will act as a donation going towards our clean water efforts.

Fundraising Tips and Tricks

One of the easiest ways you can raise donations is by utilizing the donations tools on social media such as Facebook and Instagram. Share some of your photos on an updated post or status and click on the feature "Raise donations." We will track your results for you. For this event, we are not holding you to a commitment, and is voluntary.
