Somerville 5K Turkey Trot

 MEMO TO REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS

On behalf of the race committee, thank you for registering for the tenth annual Somerville 5K Turkey Trot! 

·         We encourage participants to avoid long race day lines by taking advantage of early packet pick-up on Sunday, November 23 from 10am-1pm at the Somerset County Regional Farmers Market.  The market is located at the Somerville Middle School parking lot at the corner of West High Street and Davenport Street.  Participants can pick up multiple packets for family members and friends or designate others to do so. Lines are organized alphabetically – please make sure you’re in the correct line.  Parking is available in municipal lots # 1 & 2 with access from Davenport Street.

·         Race Day packet pick-up will open at 7:00am in the white tent at the staging area at Engine Company (170 E. Main Street, Somerville, NJ 08876) and Veterans Memorial Drive.  Again, lines will be organized alphabetically.

·         We will be accepting same day registrations at the orange and black tent from 7:00-8:45am, cash only, exact change appreciated, $45.  NOTE: Children are full price, sweatshirts will not be provided, and participants cannot be placed on a team.

·         Free parking will be available at the parking deck located at 59 Veterans Memorial Drive.  (Entrance is between Warren St. and Hamilton St.)  As you approach the race site there will be signs directing traffic.

·         We kindly request that runners line up according to speed-- the fastest runners should be up front, and walkers, dogs, and strollers towards the rear.   The race will begin promptly at 9am.

·         Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the following divisions –overall; 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-55; 56-65; 66+.  The overall M/F winners will also receive $150 VISA cards.

·         A trophy will be awarded to the team with the Greatest Number of Participants.

·         We will be collecting donations in conjunction with SAFE (Somerville Alliance for Food Education) for the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.  The most needed items are non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies and hygiene products. Please consider helping those less fortunate.

·         Lastly, please post photos on IG using #recintheville for all to enjoy.

Race proceeds directly benefit recreational programming, events, and facilities.  Donations are still being accepted at www.somervilleturkeytrot.com.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE TENTH ANNUAL SOMERVILLE 5K TURKEY TROT ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH!

Race proceeds directly benefit Somerville Recreation programming and facilities for our youths, adults, and seniors. Last year's proceeds  helped fund the installation of two new inclusive playgrounds in Somerville at Walck Park and Carol Pager Park. The support from our community is crucial to our mission of providing positive recreational opportunities and facilities for all to enjoy. 

Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to participate in this family friendly event!

Participants must register prior to November 3rd to receive a 10th anniversary hoodie!

Online registration closes on Thursday, November 20th at 4pm.  Participants will have the option of picking up packets early at the Somerset County Farmers Market at the Somerville Middle School on Sunday, November 23.

We hope to see you on Thanksgiving Day to start the holiday season off on the right foot!
