Description

One day event offering two USAT sanctioned courses: Sprint & Olympic (see details below).

Great for 1st timers to intermediate/advanced athletes.  Relay teams as well as solo entries accepted.  Events take place at the naturally beautiful and quintessential, privately owned lake community of Lake Mohawk Country Club located in Sparta Twp., NJ.  Convenient parking directly across from the transition area and swim start at the historic Lake Mohawk Clubhouse.  Circa 1929, this castle-like structure is listed on the national and state registers of historic places due to its uniqueness of architecture.  The transition area is a grassy field.  The swim is in calm waters and patrolled by over 30 lifeguards in boats, kayaks and/or paddleboards.  The bike course has a few ups and downs, and travels through the mostly residential countryside of Sparta, Byram and Andover Twps.  The run, mostly flat, is along the eastern shore of Lake Mohawk.  Participants on the bike and run courses will travel through the lake community's village center, Lake Mohawk Plaza.  Also the location for the finish line.  The Plaza is a convenient and great place for spectators to view the athletes while on the bike and run courses, and crossing the finish line.

Minimum Age:  For individual entries is 14 years for both the Sprint & Olympic Course.  For relay teams, the minimum age is 9 years for Sprint Course & 14 years for Olympic Course.  All participants under 18 years must mail signed USAT waiver to Pass It Along, 60 Blue Heron Rd., Suite 100, Sparta, NJ 07871 with additional signature of consent of parent/legal guardian.

Discount pricing for Lake Mohawk Country Club Members (LMCC)

Net proceeds benefit Pass It Along, a 501c3 nonprofit organization providing free programs to local teenagers in self-discovery, volunteerism and leadership.

TRANSITION AREA:  The transition area is located on the large grassy area on West Shore Tr adjacent to the boardwalk.  Bike racks are set up for the triathletes to rack their bikes and necessary gear/items for the race (i.e. bike helmet, sneakers, T-shirt, etc.).  Only participants and event staff are allowed in the transition area.  Participants are not allowed to ride bikes within the transition area.

Lifeguards and boats will be located in the water, and at a safe distance away from the swimmers to aid swimmers, if needed.

Starting at 6:50am athletes will be instructed to leave transition area and start on beach.  After the national anthem ceremony, Wave 1 will start on beach.  Course will be marked with buoys.  Course is subject to change.  Upon exiting the water, athletes must proceed to transition area to prepare for the bike segment of the course.  Timing mats will be placed on at the swim in/out section of transition area.  Athletes must cross over the timing mats to ensure accurate race times for the swim & transition to bike segment.  Total swim course is a 400 meters for Sprint and 1500 meters for Olympic.

If participants need to abandon the swim course, they must inform an Event staff person so that this is accurately recorded in the final race results.  Participants will be disqualified from any awards, but may continue the bike course of the race.
