Run For Dom 5K

Hello Everyone,

With a heavy heart, we have decided to postpone The Run for Dom 5K & Fun Run until next year due to COVID-19. With new information coming out every day, we believe it is the best decision going forward to ensure everyone's health in these uncertain times.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors, runners, and administration for all their continued support. Without you, this event would not be possible.

The Dominick Cecre Scholarship will still be distributed. A meeting will be organized with a few of The Run for Dom board members soon to discuss this matter.

If you are a sponsor who has any financial questions please contact runfordom@sussextech.org. We are still working with the Sussex County Technical School Board Office to answer any questions. Thank you in advance for your patience and patronage.

In 2017 Sussex Tech experienced the sudden loss of Dominick Cecere. This young man was a dedicated athlete and an exceptional student. Dom ran for the Sussex County Technical Schools' cross country team, winter track team, and the spring track team. Dom was a member of each team from the start of his freshman year, there was nothing more he loved than running. As well as being a dedicated athlete Dominick was on track to graduate in the top 15% of his class. The proceeds from the race will be put toward a scholarship given to a student from Sussex Tech who represents the qualities of Dom. The scholarship will be awarded to a Sussex Tech senior who participates in at least two sports.

 This year we would also like to donate some of our funds to Sussex Tech’s Graphic Department. Last year the Sussex Tech Graphic’s Shop helped to print all of our banners, posters, and flyers. Part of the proceeds from the race will be donated to the shop to help fix their shirt printing machine. Our goal is to have the Sussex Tech’s Graphic Shop print out our shirts for next year. 

This year we are happy to announce that we have added a 1 Mile Fun Run! Awards will be given out to the top 3 male and female finishers. The 1 Mile Fun Run will begin at the same time as the 5K. The event will not be indiduvaled timed.

The cross country course at Sussex Tech has a few hills. If you are an avid racer, spikes are recommended.  The Run For Dom 5K will take you around  Sussex Tech's beautiful campus. The race will start at the track and then lead the runners up to our tennis courts and around our softball fields. The trail then leads into our beautifully wooded section of our campus. Once out of the woods, runners will make their way around the school's soccer fields and up our biggest hill, known as "Tussy". At the top of the hill is where the memorial for Dominick Cecere has been placed. His teammates wanted to place his memorial at the top of Tussy, because Dom running hills was Doms favorite. After the runners finish with the hill they will follow the path along the outside of our school track. At this point, runners have finished their first lap and will complete the course a second time. When a runner has finished their second lap, they will turn back into the track and make their way to the finish line. Please refer to the map for further visual aid.
