Friends of the Poor® Walk - St. Vincent de Paul, St. Catharine Conference, Spring Lake, NJ

Update on the Friends of the Poor Walk 

Due to the unexpected stormy weather predicted for Saturday, September 26 - we have a few updates.  We will still be having the walk at 10:00am, RAIN/Wind or SHINE (hoping for Shine!) but with a few modifications.

Registration check-in will now be located inside the Spring Lake Firehouse at 1007 5th Ave., Spring Lake.  It is located directly across the street from Divine Park (original location); use the door on the left side to enter the firehouse.  Please check in between 9:00am – 9:50am to receive your bib number.  We will still have day of registrations for any new walkers.  There will be snacks and water available before and after the walk.

Due to the potential rain/wind, we are recommending one loop (1 mile) on the sidewalk around the lake, or you can cut it short by using the bridge mid-route. Feel free to do the full 2 loops (2 miles) too.

There will be SVDP members patrolling the route if someone needs assistance, but if anyone becomes sick or injured on the route, please call 911.

There are no refunds, but you can defer your registration to our FOP Walk on Sept. 25, 2027. If you are choosing this option, please email Bernadette Taylor at Bernbabyburn@hotmail.com by Saturday morning.

Society of St Vincent de Paul - St. Catharine Conference

This year’s walk will take place around the lake in Spring Lake on Saturday, September 26, 2026. It is a 2-mile walk (2 loops around the lake) starting at 10:00 AM in front of the Spring Lake Firehouse, 1007 5th Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ.  The walk will take place rain or shine. 

Online registration will close on September 24 at 7:00pm, but we will have day of registration available starting at 9:00am onsite on September 26th. Registration will be located on the corner of Warren Ave & 5th Ave.  Day of registration is $25 - please pay by cash or check (no credit cards). 

We look forward to your participation and greatly appreciate your support!  (Sorry no pets allowed)

Day after day, many people in our local communities’ struggle to make ends meet. To alleviate this, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Catharine Conference, Spring Lake, is helping individuals and families in Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Sea Girt and Wall Township. Every day, SVdP volunteers work with individuals and families to provide emergency food, utility assistance, budget and employment counseling, and to find affordable housing. SVdP volunteers work continuously to aid our Neighbors without regard to religion, race, or national origin.

In 2024, here is how your donations helped us help our Neighbors:

• Partnering w/ other local SVdP = $1,650
• Supplies, Services, Misc. = $1,600
• Gift cards = $1,250
• Utilities = $1,000

Our goal for the year 2026 is $40,000.  With your help we can achieve this goal!
