Vernon 5K proceeds to be donated to Daruis Ziabakhsh and his family.
Darius Ziabakhsh, is currently in 6th grade at Glen Meadow School in Vernon, NJ. Darius was born with a plethora of medical conditions and has had over 12 major, some life threatening, surgeries in his 12 years of life, and over 30 minor surgeries, which keep him alive. Unfortunately, there is no ‘cure’ for his conditions/diagnosis of VACTER Association, Eosinophilic Esophagitis and many more, but he continues to be strong and fight his daily struggles, with a HUGE smile on his face.
Darius’ family wanted to give back to the Ronald McDonald House who has been housing them in various states throughout many of Darius’ surgeries. The Ziabakhsh family has been cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the Ronald McDonald house for the past 9 years.
It is time for our community to give to this family to assist them in their financial burdens associated with Darius’ illness. The Vernon PAL and Vernon Township will be donating all of the proceeds from the annual 5K race to the Ziabakhsh family to lighten their financial burden.
