The Sixth Annual Mercer County Turkey Trot - a 5K race and 1 Mi walk on Thanksgiving Morning in Mercer County Park - will take place on Thursday, November 22, 2018. The 5K race kicks off at 8:30 am from the West Picnic area. The walk/fun run will begin immediately after the 5K run has started. More information about parking and the race course will be available at www.MercerCountyTurkeyTrot.com as we get closer to the race day.
This is the sixth annual event being organized by a Race Committee of Mercer County residents. The race committee will oversee the donation of the net proceeds from the event to local food pantries. If you or your organization are interested in supporting the Mercer County Turkey Trot, please contact MercerTurkeyTrot@gmail.com.
Race bibs, Mercer County Turkey Trot t-shirts and information and items from our sponsors can be picked up Sunday, November 18 or Tuesday, November 20 (and yes, you can pick up the packet of a friend or relative!!). More information will be available as race day approaches.
Packet pickup on Race Day (for those of you who are unable to make it prior to Race Day) will begin at 7 am in the pavilion at the West Picnic Area in Mercer County Park. PLEASE try and pickup your packet on November 18th or November 20th to minimize the crunch before the race.
Please park at Fields 3 and 9 (across the street from the West Picnic Area drive) or the Marina (next to the West Picnic Area to the east). We strongly suggest that those who are fast runners park at the Fields 3 and 9 lot as it will be easier to get out if you need to leave before the other runners finish their race.
The 5K will begin at 8:30 am, with the Fun Run/Walk beginning right after the runners leave.
Join us between 8 and 8:15am for warm-up stretches.
In addition to the Event proceeds benefiting the local food pantries, we are also collecting non-perishable food/non-food items, which will be donated to the pantries after the Race. Please remember to bring these items to the Race.
Here are some suggestions of items the food pantries have indicated they particularly need. No glass containers please.
Canned goods (fruit, soup – all varieties, vegetables, tuna, chicken, chili)
Shelf stable milk (like Parmelat)
Boxes of cereals, pasta, rice
Honey (plastic container)
Non-food items are welcome as well (e.g., Shampoo, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Bars of Soap, Disposable razors)
