Kathy's Story
Teacher // Mother // friend
Kathy’s students knew her as a patient and kindhearted teacher, her three children knew her as a caring and supportive mother, and her friends remember her as a selfless and thoughtful comrade, always ready to offer a helping hand before they could ask. Kathy was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. For ten years she battled the disease, continuously in and out of remission. On August 8, 2015, her battle finally ended. Her fighting spirit and refusal to lose hope or to allow those around her to do so have served as an inspiration to many. Her friends and family wish to continue her legacy with the Kathleen Duffy Riley Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a high school student interested in pursuing a career in education.
