Description

The Santa Fe Strider's 42nd Annual Fowl Day Run is a cross country 5K Fun Run that will benefit the Salvation Army Holiday Food Drive.

The Fowl Day 5K is free. In order to support the Salvation Army's Holiday Food Drive, we suggest a donation of $20 (or more) in cash or check, clothing and/or food. Please bring donations to Fort Marcy the morning of the race, the Salvation Army will be there to pick up donations. Everyone who makes a donation to the Salvation Army the morning of the race will be entered into a raffle for prizes. There will be post-event prizes and refreshments including pumpkin pies!

As in past years, we are asking all Santa Fe Striders to bring a pie that will be raffled among the participants..

We have a new 2-mile walk course and a 5K Fun Run this year. Please note that there will not be an aid station on either course. Please bring your own water or energy drink.

Please park in the lot off of Murales Road or behind the Ft. Marcy Building. All runners and walkers get a stick with number on it at the finish line for the post-run raffle!!!

Age Requirements

An adult needs to accompany a child younger than 11 years of age for both courses.

Fowl Day 5K Fun Run Course

The start is on the north side of Murales Road at the second yellow speed bump. This is at the intersection of ‘Cuesta del Norte’ and ‘Espalda del Palacio’, at the stop sign.

Continue north for 400 feet or so. Veer left to enter a path next to the arroyo. Go up a set of stairs and cross ‘Loma Entrada’.

Continue for 130 feet or so, on ‘La Mancha Ct’. Veer left on a path to enter the arroyo.

Continue north and exit the arroyo up an embankment. Cross ‘Calle Estado’ and continue north on an embankment to enter the arroyo.

Continue north and veer right to exit the arroyo up an embankment. Enter at ‘Calle Arco’ and veer right. ‘Calle Arco’ curves left and continues north. Pass ‘Calle Santo Nino’.

Continue north and turn around at ‘Calle Santa Maria’. Continue south and turn left onto ‘Calle Santo Nino’. Go up a hill to reach ‘Governor Dempsey Dr.’.

Turn right on ‘Governor Dempsey Dr.’. Continue south and turn left onto ‘Calle Estado/Governor Dempsey Dr.’. Go up a hill and pass the governor’s mansion.

Continue east, past the mansion, and go down a hill for 190 feet or so, and turn around at the driveway of ‘Governor Dempsey Dr./Mansion Dr.’ (orange cone). [DO NOT continue to ‘Mansion Ridge Rd.’.]

Continue west and pass the Governor’s mansion and go down a hill on ‘Calle Estado’. Continue west to the arroyo and enter left at an embankment.

Go south and through a culvert, crossing under ‘Loma Entrada’ road. Continue south, staying in the arroyo and through a bridge, crossing under ‘Murales Road’.

Within Fort Marcy park, continue south in the arroyo, crossing some cemented rocks, until another arroyo approaches from the left.

Turn left at this arroyo that is situated between the ball field and the Ft. Marcy Recreation complex. Continue east.

Turn left, past the fire station (orange cone) going up a slight incline. Cross into a short arroyo.

Continue north for 110 feet or so, and veer left out of this arroyo, up a slope to the parking area, east of the ball field. Follow the course to a flat, sandy road, north of the ball field. Continue west on this road, through a gate, to the stadium. Just after the stadium, turn left at the gate and run down an asphalt runway to the finish line!

Fowl Day 2-Mile Course

Turn right on ‘Calle Estado/Governor Dempsey Dr.’. Continue west to the arroyo and enter left at an embankment.

Go south and through a culvert, crossing under ‘Loma Entrada’ road. Continue south, staying in the arroyo and through a bridge, crossing under ‘Murales Road’.
