Description
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. By participating in this event, you will be part of the solution to end domestic violence. You will be showing survivors that their community cares about them, and people will support them.
COVID has impacted us all in one way or another. Domestic violence numbers have sadly only continued to rise since stay at home orders have been mandated across the country. San Ildefonso Pueblo ICWA/ Family Advocate Department is working hard to support local victims and their families. Although we cannot host our First Domestic Violence Run/walk Challenge this year, you and your family can still take a stand and support victims.
Register and walk or run this virtual Challenge throughout all of October. Remember to snap pictures, and post them using the hashtag #SANI_DVCHALLENGE. Since I have decided to make this event virtual, I still want the community to take a stand against domestic abuse and complete the 25-mile Challenge on your own or with a team no more than four. This means you can go at your own pace and do a minimum of .80 miles/day to complete 25 miles. I have confidence in this that it will bring awareness and families together. This virtual run/walk will begin Thursday, October 1, 2020, and end October 31, 2020.
