We have put together this 4-week challenge in the hopes that it will put all participants on a path to a better, healthier version of themselves! Small steps equal meaningful changes and we've put together a fun and engaging challenge which includes a series of tasks designed to help participants get on (or stay on) the right track with their health and fitness.
This challenge is open to absolutely everyone, you do not need to be a runner to participate and you do not need to live local to the Hudson Valley.
The challenge will run for 4 weeks from Monday 3/18 through Sunday 4/14. This challenge is capped at 300 participants, register early for the lowest price and to secure your spot.
All participants will receive the following:
* An awesome, custom-designed Sprints hat with fun elements showcasing the Hudson Valley and the national reach of our challenges (the hat alone is a $32 value!)
* The opportunity to earn a custom "Spring Into Healthy Habits" finisher's medal (IMAGE COMING SOON!) for collecting (earning and entering) at least 100 healthy points during the challenge. More on the points below.
* Every participant who collects at least 150 healthy points will be entered into a raffle for the opportunity to win a $100 Fleet Feet gift card. We are raffling off five $100 Fleet Feet gift cards and will add an extra five cards to the raffle for every one hundred participants. For example, if we get 300 participants, we will raffle off fifteen $100 gift cards!
* Participation in our private Spring Into Healthy Habits Facebook group where you can connect with other participants for extra accountability and motivation.
While nothing is really required to participate in the challenge, we will think a couple of items will be helpful:
1) Some kind of fitness watch (Garmin, Apple) to track sleep, steps, and activities.
2) A subscription to a workout app such as Peloton as there are TONS of running, walking, strength, mobility, stretching, yoga, barre, pilates, and even meditation classes here. How to earn healthy points
Tasks: (each task = 1 point per day)
- Sleep 8 hours a night (Recommendation: Daily)
- Drink 72 ounces of water in a day (Female) or 104 ounces of water in a day (Male); (Recommendation: Daily)
- Eat 4+ servings of vegetables in a day (Recommendation: Daily)
- Eat 4+ servings of fruits in a day (Recommendation: Daily). For additional details on what counts and serving sizes, click here
- Complete 30+ minutes of running or any other cardiovascular activity (Recommendation: 3-5 times per week)
- Complete 30+ minutes of strength or resistance training, i.e. weight training, pilates, barre (Recommendation: 2-3 times per week)
- Complete 20+ minutes of yoga or mobility work (Recommendation: 2-3 times per week)
- Walk for 15+ minutes (Recommendation: Daily)
- Meditate for 10+ minutes (Recommendation: Daily)
All tasks must be entered into Run Signup to count.
All participants will receive an email in advance of the challenge start date of 3/18 with additional details about the points, how to enter activities, and more. Local participants: hats will be available for pickup at Fleet Feet Poughkeepsie at the start of the Challenge on Monday 3/18. Medals will be available after the conclusion of the challenge on 4/14 (additional details to follow). For those who are out of town or opt to have their hat and medal mailed, the items will be mailed after the conclusion of the challenge (the week of 4/15).
