About Us
Animal Rescue Foundation, also known as ARF, is a beacon of hope for animals in Beacon, NY, and beyond. Founded by Barbara Shea in 1986, this volunteer-driven, no-kill animal rescue and shelter has been tirelessly dedicated to the welfare of cats and dogs in need.
ARF’s mission is clear: to help lost, unwanted, abused, and abandoned cats, dogs, kittens and puppies, providing them with the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve. Through a combination of rescue efforts, rehabilitation programs, and sheltering services, ARF works tirelessly to ensure that every animal that comes through its doors is given the opportunity to find a loving forever home. And for those animals that face challenges, ARF goes above and beyond by offering permanent homes and ongoing care, ensuring that even the hardest-to-place animals can live out their lives in safety, comfort, and dignity.

Join the 10th Annual ARF 5K Run & Walk With The Dogs!
Get ready for an exciting community event supporting the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF). On Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Memorial Park in Beacon, NY, animal lovers and athletes of all ages will lace up and hit the pavement to make a difference—with 100% of the proceeds going directly toward rescuing and caring for animals in need.
As Beacon's only nonprofit sporting event dedicated to saving animals' lives, this special day offers something for everyone.
The races are timed with chipped running bibs.
🐾 1K KIDS FUN RUN (Ages 3-10) – A fun-filled race where every child earns a finisher prize. (Dogs are not permitted in the Kids Fun Run.)
🐾 5K RUN & WALK WITH THE DOGS – Run or walk alongside your leashed pup in this heartwarming main event. (Kids 3 and under participate for free!)

✔ 10 to 10:15 AM – 1K Kids Fun Run
✔ Immediately After – 5K Run & Walk with the Dogs
🎉 Post-Race Fun: Stick around for awards, music, games, face painting, vendor exhibits, raffles, and more! Participants who fundraise can also earn exclusive prizes for reaching their fundraising goals.

Sign up early to guarantee your swags. All participants who register by April 30th will receive:

The event is held Rain or Shine and is non-refundable.
Strollers are ONLY allowed on the 5K race course.
Dogs that are non-aggressive toward people and other animals are welcomed on the 5K race course. All dogs must be current on their vaccinations and always leashed. Retractable leashes, including bungy-style leashes, are prohibited at any time. Each adult participant may be accompanied by one (1) dog and that dog will receive an event dog tag.
