Details

The Friday before the race, participants will be allowed to check in and pick up their Bibs and T-shirts. Volunteers will greet participants, and hand them assigned running numbers (bib). Responsibilities include welcoming participants and offering friendly interactions, checking participants' confirmation emails, reviewing participants' information that is printed on the bib for errors and omissions, and directing participants to subsequent steps in the check-in process such as picking up giveaways, making corrections, or switching races.

Participant Giveaway volunteers will help provide participant giveaways, such as T-shirts, to registered participants. Responsibilities include confirming participant shirt sizes, answering race-related questions, and preventing theft of participant giveaways.

For those helping in this area, we ask that you provide some "tough love" to those participants hoping to garner additional or unassigned giveaways as this can often be an issue.

Race Setup Laborer - SATURDAY Medium Priority

Details

The day before the race, countless activities must be carried out to ensure a smooth race day. These responsibilities include:

Setting up the race course, taking signages to various points, setting up the area and tables the night before. Responsibilities also include moving objects of varying weights, driving short distances to pick up donations from various sponsors, collecting items from ARF to bring to the Park, etc...

Race Setup Laborer - SUNDAY High Priority

Details

On the morning of the event, countless activities must be carried out to ensure a smooth event, including:

Cleaning, moving, and setting up the areas for registration, erecting signages, hanging banners, and setting up breakfast and refreshments, setting up tables, chairs, and small tents. Responsibilities include moving objects of varying weights, driving short distances to bring items from ARF to the Park, picking up donations from various sponsors the morning of the event donations, etc...

ARF Race Event Ambassador - SUNDAY Medium Priority

Details

Event Ambassadors will serve as the front face of ARF during the day. Responsibilities will include greeting participants, sponsors, and vendors with a warm welcome, assisting participants and the race director in finding solutions to any issues, and providing basic ARF-related and event information. This person will be an active ARF volunteer who has prior experience with the 5K.

Walk- Up Registration Assistance - SUNDAY High Priority

Details

Walk-Up Registration volunteers will greet new, unregistered participants and guide them - if necessary - through the walk-up registration process. Responsibilities may include welcoming participants, queue line management, basic computer interaction, and participant instruction.

Anyone available to work the entire shift is welcome, but we appreciate those who can only work part of the day, too.

This position requires VERY DETAIL-ORIENTED, ORGANIZED, SOLUTION-ORIENTED individuals. The lead volunteer will be available to guide and support any new volunteers.

Course Guides & Street Marshals - SUNDAY 1K / 5K High Priority

Details

Race Course Marshals serve an important role in that they make sure participants traverse the correct route on their way to the finish line. Course marshals stand at key turns and complicated transitions throughout the racecourse and point participants in the correct direction. Responsibilities include yelling, pointing, and cheering.

For your safety, you will be provided with High Visibility Safety Vests.

Your participation is required for the WHOLE event.

Water Stations Operation - SUNDAY Mile 1 & 2 High Priority

Details

The 5K Run has two water stops on the course which will need staffing. Water stop volunteers help distribute bottles of water, and hand them to runners as they pass during the race.

Other responsibilities would include bringing dog bowls and ensuring they are filled with fresh water, helping to keep the immediate area around the water stop clean of crushed bottles, and communicating with race officials in the event someone needed help along the course.

Photographer/ Videographer/ Social Media Rep - SUNDAY Medium Priority

Details

Description of Duties:
Using your equipment, you will take pictures of the event to be posted later on the website and social media pages.

Areas of focus include: Set-up, Registration, Start and Finish Line, Along the course, taking photos/ videos of sponsors' banners. Manning the photo ops section, Take pictures of vendors, etc...

Posting pictures on ARF's Facebook and Instagram pages as the event is progressing.

This position requires people who have a keen eye for catching candid, fun pictures that portray the spirit of the event.
