Kelly Marie LaBare

Kelly LaBare was renowned for her athleticism and unwavering spirit. She could be seen gliding effortlessly with her long stride and perfect tempo on any given day, with her blonde ponytail bouncing side-to-side, accompanied by her sidekick and biggest fan, her brother Byron.

As a premier road runner and education advocate in Upstate New York, Kelly's influence extended far beyond her athletic achievements. She embodied kindness, humbleness, and a deep commitment to others. Fueled by her strong spiritual connection and belief in education, Kelly pursued her dreams with determination, graduating with high honors from Cornell University. Supported by her loving family and friends, she achieved remarkable success.

Kelly’s story took an unexpected turn in 1997 when at the tender age of 25 passed away from a sudden heart condition. Every year in August, we honor Kelly’s legacy, and celebrate her life at our annual Kelly LaBare 5K Run. The community of Binghamton and the surrounding area come together for this memorable 5K race.
