Walk Run For Kids

ABOUT & WHY - The 3rd Annual Walk Run For Kids is a 5K run on a USATF-certified course; 2-mile walk; and 20-yard kids run hosted by the Upstate Foundation in support of Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. More than 12,000 visits are made annually by Binghamton area families to Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. 

PROCEEDS & DONATIONS - Money raised this year will be used to pay for the many extra costs families incur when their child is sick or injured; costs that aren’t covered by insurance such as co-pays, gas and other transportation expenses, lodging, food, mortgage payments, as well as other unmet needs. This also includes the “fun stuff’ such as games, toys and movies, and more that are so vital for healing. Families who will benefit from your generosity most likely never expected their child to have a serious health problem. Funds raised by this event will help lighten heavy burdens during difficult times, making an incredible difference in the lives of local children and their families.

FUNDRAISING - Is optional, but every dollar raised helps pediatric patients and their families. Your help is appreciated!

AWARDS - Top fundraising team; top fundraising individual; top three runners - men's and women's; children participating in the Fun Run for Kids receive ribbons.  Runner times will be posted on this site.

ONLINE REGISTRATION - Open through Thursday, September 21, 2023 until noon.  You can also register event day at the park. Price increases event week.

7:00am - Volunteer check-in

7:30am  -  Runner Walker check in and day of registration begins. 

7:30am -   Coffee – Kathy, Dave & Eric’s Flavored Coffee (Java Joe's); Bagels & fresh fruit – for all

8:30am -   Face Painting

8:40am -   Announcements

8:45am  -  Opening Ceremony

8:50am  -  Opening Remarks  - Dr. Greg Conners - Department Chair, Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital

8:55am -   Star Spangled Banner -Performed by Rhonda Plunkett, Lead sing of "Splash"

9:00am  -  Race and Walk Begin!

9:15am -   Kids Fun Run Begins (ages 1-10) - there will be multiple runs

9:30am -   Post race munchies, snacks & beverages at pavilion

10:30am - Awards for Runners – Women’s & Men’s

10:30am - Awards for Top Fundraiser; Top Fundraising Team
