Steven Bonano Memorial Run *Registration Now Closed* LIMITED Day-of Registration Still Available

Race registration closes at 9:00 am on Friday, September 27th. Kids age 13 and under register free! 

The memorial run commemorates the life of local hero, NYPD Deputy Chief Steven Bonano who succumbed to 9/11-related illnesses. This year the run will also be dedicated to Deputy Chief Steven Bonano's father, Eulogio “Tony” Bonano who passed away on July 30th, 2019 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Tony loved running and was instrumental in starting the Bronx Road Runners club. This group became his closest and dearest friends.   Although initially he did lose his breath after attempting to run a lap around Stevenson track, through perseverance and training, at the height of his running career he completed several NYC 26.2 mile marathons.

Tony was a Navy Seaman, Weightlifter (benching over 315 lbs.), Pilot, Financial Planner and Advisor. He was also an excellent photographer and photographed many swim meets at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. Those who knew Tony said he had a profound influence on their lives and career paths and continues to be the recipient of their endless gratitude. 

Join us in celebrating the impact that the Bonano family has had on the Bronx community throughout the decades. Mr. Bonano grew up in our community, attended Kips Bay as a youngster, and continued to make mentoring visits to the Clubhouse throughout his stellar NYPD career. The memorial run is divided into two segments; the first stretch is led by our youth followed by the adult participants. Proceeds from registration will go to a scholarship fund for Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club swim team members. Following the 5k, stick around for our 16th Annual Day for Kids Celebration where we continue to honor the Bonano family.
