Race Description
Sunday, June 2, 2019 @ 8:30 AM
Delaware Park Rose Garden and Hoyt Lake
Live.Laugh.LoveYourLungs. 5k Run / 1-Mile Walk this June is the first-ever event for Foundation 228 and we are very excited to have it in our hometown of Buffalo, NY! Time, talent and local businesses will be tapped to help execute the event, keeping Buffalo at the epicenter of everything we do!
We are currently partnering with Team Roswell to identify how we can support lung cancer research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and have also teamed up with the Lung Cancer Research Foundation in NYC.
Also! Every person that raises $100 or more and is at Hoyt Lake receives an exclusive item!* The top three individual fundraisers and the top three team fundraisers, along with 5K finishers (by assigned age group), will also receive awards event day. And, Hotel Henry will donate $1 to Foundation 228 for each beverage ordered on race-day with a race bib.
It is also a day we will forever celebrate our mother’s life, this year being particularly special as it’s our first full year without her. Her love for any city and nature, and taking walks to explore, make Delaware Park Rose Garden and Hoyt Lake a destination fitting for such an event!
If you are interested in being a Volunteer, please send your contact information to info@foundation228.org as soon as possible!
We can't wait to see you there!

Foundation 228
Foundation 228 was founded January 2019 in honor of our mom, Irene. This foundation is our way of channeling our mother’s selflessness and propelling it into a future she will never see, but ironically was so integral in developing during her “I will try it” lung cancer treatments. It encapsulates the courage our mother so bravely displayed every day of her battle. It stands for the fight of each person who is still in the battle – patient, caregiver, loved one, doctor, nurse, scientist. It’s the inspiration and strength we tap into when hope seems to be running low or grief is overwhelming for the ones lost to this painful disease. It’s the drive and determination we dip into when the day-to-day of the fight is daunting. It’s simply the selfless act of wanting to help others live the best life they can. It’s a legacy we can all be part of no matter what role we play in this lung cancer journey.
Foundation 228 is committed to raising awareness, educating and funding lung cancer research for a cure to support those living, fighting and undiagnosed so they have a fighting chance at living their best quality of life. We are actively inquiring and pursuing opportunities to help fund in Buffalo and Western New York that are focused on dedicated lung cancer research.
