124th Annual YMCA Buffalo Turkey Trot
The 2019 edition of the YMCA Buffalo Niagara Turkey Trot will accept the first 14,000 entrants.
Known to be the oldest consecutively run footrace in the WORLD, the YMCA Turkey Trot is an 8K Thanksgiving Day tradition that attracts over 14,000 runners of all ages and abilities to the City of Buffalo each year.
Your participation in the YMCA Turkey Trot helps to make YMCA programs and services accessible to kids and families who would otherwise be unable to afford them. YMCA Buffalo Niagara is a charitable, community based organization dedicated to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Throughout its history, proceeds raised from the YMCA Turkey Trot have played a vital role in helping youth, families, and seniors access the resources that help them to learn, grow and thrive.
This Thanksgiving will be the 124th YMCA Turkey Trot in Buffalo, New York. The first race in the history of the United States began with just six runners competing in a five mile stretch in downtown Buffalo, and in 2018, 14,000 hit the street! Early on, the race took place entirely on dirt roads, and was not run on pavement until the mid-1900’s. Women began competing in 1972. Today, people travel from all over the country to compete, and participants from Ireland and Australia even fly overseas to embrace the history of racing.
