Join the Cassadaga community as we celebrate the life of Emmaline Wilcox in conjunction with this year’s Arbor Day Celebration. Sadly, in February, 7 year old Emmaline lost her life in a tragic car accident on NYS Route 60.
Saturday, October 3, 2020.
9am - Meet at the Cassadaga Beach and participate in Emmaline’s Gift charity walk. Emmaline loved to help people; in honor of that loving spirit we are establishing a fund in her name that will do just that when tragedy strikes others in our community.
Run or walk a 2.5 mile course, along the beautiful shore of the Lower Cassadaga Lake, enter the Lily Dale Assembly grounds, circle the Leolyn Woods Nature Trail and back on the same route along the lake to finish at the Beach. (Walkers only thru the Leolyn Woods please)
No times kept, no prizes, Not a race. Just a lovely walk to remember a little girl that was very well loved.
Snacks provided afterwards.
10 AM- Arbor Day Proclamation-Mayor William Dorman
Tree City USA presentation- Nate Morey, Forester Trainee, NYS DEC, Region 9, Division of Lands and Forests
Memorial Tree Planting in Memory of Emmaline Wilcox
11am - Travel over to the new Cassadaga Lakes Nature Park for a group hike through the woods and learn about the many different trees species within the Park.
Proceeds from the walk will purchase a commemorative plaque to be placed at the foot of the newly planted tree in memory of Emmaline with remaining funds to be placed in an account held by the Citizens for a Better Cassadaga (CBC).
Suggested donation to participate in the run will be $10 for adults and $1 for any elementary school student or younger. Advance registration is appreciated but will allow same day walkers to come and make donations to join in the day.
Parking will be available at the Cassadaga Fire Hall as well as Park Church on Maple Avenue.
