Welcome to the 2022 Red Baron Half Marathon and 2-Person Team Event!
The 41st annual Red Baron is a live in-person race with a 2-person team and virtual option. Special pricing is available for current Corning Community College students.
The point-to-point course starts on the campus of Corning Community College and finishes in front of the South Corning Fire Department on Clark Street (across from the Corning American Legion). The course has rolling hills with an overall elevation loss of 701 feet.
WHEN: Sunday, November 6, 2022. The race starts promptly at 12:00pm.
WHERE: Start at Corning Community College, 1 Academic Drive, Corning, NY 14830. Finish in front of the South Corning Fire Department on Clark Street. Refer to the course map for details including aid station and porta-potty locations. There will be a gear bag drop inside the Commons building prior to the race. Items will be made available at the finish line.
TEAMS: There is a 2-person team option. Teams receive two sets of swag and medals. Runner #1 covers 5.5 miles and Runner #2 covers 7.6 miles. The team exchange point is located at Spencer Hill Road near Spencer Crest Nature Center. Bus transportation will be provided for team members from Corning Community College. Back for 2022, the Town of Corning has approved the closure of one lane traffic to make the course safer than back in 2019.
When registering your team, the captain fills out the registration form and is asked for information (name, shirt size, emergency contact, etc) regarding their teammate. We collect the entire team fee from the captain.
ONLINE REGISTRATION is the only option. There is no paper mail-in form. We have decided to reduce our paper usage to help the environment.
REGISTRATION CLOSES: November 3, 2022, at 11:59PM or when we reach 300 total participants.
PACKET PICKUP/ONSITE REGISTRATION: Saturday, November 5th from 2-5pm at Confluence Running Corning on Market Street in Corning, NY. Sunday, November 6th from 10am-12pm in the Commons building.
HALF MARATHON AWARDS: Top overall winners for Male, Female, and Teams (Male-Male, Female-Female, and Coed) as well as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age group category. There will be an in-person Awards Ceremony at the Corning American Legion.
AGE GROUP CATEGORIES: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
RESULTS: The event is chip timed and results will be available online the day of the race.
SWAG: This year’s swag will be a custom red packable rain jacket. Sizes are unisex (S-2XL). The first 250 people registered will be guaranteed a jacket.
FINISHER’S MEDAL: All finishers receive a custom finisher’s medal. Teams receive two medals.
POST RACE: The post-race celebration will take place at the Corning American Legion. Food will be catered, and there will be vegetarian options.
PARKING: Parking will be available in the Corning American Legion auxiliary lot on River Rd and The Village Tavern Inn parking lot on Park Avenue. Bus shuttle service will be provided from these two lots to Corning Community College for registration and packet pickup. There is absolutely NO PARKING in the South Corning Fire Department parking lot at the Finish Line. Any vehicles parked there will be towed at the owner’s expense.
There are no deferrals, refunds, or credits for other STRC events.
