Eclipse Your PR 5K/10K and Unicorn Day Mile/Kids' Mile Blessing of Races

A once-in-a-lifetime event. A once-in-a-lifetime way to run/walk your way into it.

Just one day before the long awaited solar eclipse darkens the skies over the Southern Tier, and two days before National Unicorn Day, the Southern Tier Running Club provides an opportunity to eclipse your PR, strut your unicorn magic, and achieve an athletic feat you will remember as long as the eclipse.

Taking place on the Lackawanna Rail Trail in Elmira, the "Blessing of Races" (a "blessing" is a group of unicorns) will offer five separate races at three different distances for individuals of all ages and speeds, all taking place in the morning of Sunday, 07 April 2024. Run, walk, or jog:

• The Eclipse Your PR 10K - 11:00 a.m.
• The Unicorn Day Kids' Mile - 10:35 a.m. (Kids 12 and under)
• The Unicorn Day Mile - 10:15 a.m. (ages 13+)
• The Eclipse Your PR 5K - 8:45 a.m.
• The Eclipse Your PR 10K - 7:30 a.m. (those who intend to finish in one hour or less)

Amazing swag is available for each race. Or reach the daytime stars and participate in two or all three races to earn awards as unique as the day, including an exclusive hoodie and three medals which magically connect - the ultimate commemoration of this special time. 

All events are held on an out-and-back course the Lackawanna Rail Trail in Elmira, generally fast and flat with one small hill within a mile of the start/finish (downhill on the way out, uphill on the way back). Access the trail from the Wegman's parking lot (far side of the lot away from Wegman's, near light pole #4). 

Finisher medals for all races. Plaques to overall winners and five-year age groups (1st-2nd-3rd) in the 5K and 10K. No overall or age group winners in the Unicorn Day mile.

• Entrants into the 5K + Mile receive: two race entries, two t-shirts, two connecting medals for finishers, post-race food voucher (additional vouchers available for purchase at time of registration).
• Entrants into the 10K + Mile receive: two race entries, two t-shirts, two connecting medals for finishers, post-race food voucher (additional vouchers available for purchase at time of registration).
• Entrants into the 5K + 10K receive: two race entries, one t-shirt, two connecting medals for finishers, post-race food voucher (additional t-shirts and vouchers available for purchase at time of registration).
• Entrants into the 5K + 10K + Mile receive: three race entries, two t-shirts, one hoodie, three connecting medals for finishers, post-race food voucher (additional vouchers available for purchase at time of registration).
