Description
The Madness Elimination Trail (M.E.T.) is the NEWEST way to trail race!
Teams of two (1 female and 1 male per team) will compete in an elimination-style tournament.
The Start - 7 am at the Community Shelter at Highland Forest.
Round 1 - All teams/runners must complete 2 laps of a marked 4-mile course. Teams with the fastest combined team times over the two laps will advance to Round 2. (The number of teams advancing will be determined by the total number of registered teams and will be decided well prior to the start of the race.)
Round 2 - around 9:15 am - the advancing teams will complete 2 laps of a marked 3-mile course (different than Round 1). Teams with the fastest combined team times over the two laps will advance to the 3rd and Final Round. (The number of teams advancing will be determined by the total number of registered teams and will be decided well prior to the start of the race.)
Round 3 - around 10:30 am - The remaining teams will complete 2 laps of the 3-mile course. The team with the fastest combined time over the 2 laps to cross the finish line will be crowned the 2022 Madness Elimination Trail Champions!
**Start times for Rounds 2 and 3 are Subject to Change based on when teams actually finish and will be determined by the Race Director.**

Parking
Please park in the main parking lot near the Skyline Lodge and take the Main trail to the Community Shelter. Volunteers and signage will be available to help guide you in the correct direction!
A more detailed map and walking directions will be available closer to raceday.

Round 1 will use the 4-mile course. If your team advances, to round 2 or 3 then you'll run on the 3-mile course.

Trail Sisters
The M.E.T. is a Trail Sisters Approved Race!
To get the TS Stamp of approval, I'm committing to the following:
1. Equal Podium Spots - There will be because there's only 1 female and 1 male winner!
2. Equal Prize Money and Awards - see above!
3. Women’s specific swag & apparel.
4. Menstrual products at aid stations.
5. Equal opportunity/space for women on the starting line. - Starting line will be split, half for females and half for males.
Terracycle
Terracycle is a company that collects all kinds of materials, chops them up, and repurposes them. In short, they take our waste and recycles it. Even the really difficult items, like performance nutrition packets.
In an effort to reduce waste at trail events, I'll be collecting your used performance nutrition packets and shipping them off to Terracycle! So, rather than throw yours out, between now and the M.E.T. save them after your runs and bring them to me at Highland Forest on May 8!
