Join us for the Run the Eclipse 5K, as part of the three-day long "Embrace the Dark" solar eclipse events in Geneva, New York.
Experience New York's only total eclipse of the sun in our lifetimes. The next one won't be until 2144. Geneva, New York will lie in the path of this total eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. Geneva is on a thin line of lucky cities able to experience this amazing event.
Run the Eclipse 5K Run/Walk will happen on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 8:00AM. The race will start and finish at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center with a run along the Lakefront path and Seneca Lake State Park.
The race is sponsored by BluePrint Geneva and The Geneva Family YMCA. The race proceeds will support the work of both of these organizations.
Early Packet Pick-up
Meet us at Lake Drum Brewing, 16 E Castle St, Geneva, on Friday (April 5th) from 5:00PM - 8:00PM for early packet pickup! We encourage all participants to stop by Lake Drum Brewing to pick up their race bib and packet to avoid any delays on race morning.
Race Day Packet Pick-up will start at 6:30 AM at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center, in the Community Room.
Awards and Age Groups
There will be awards presented to the Top 3 Overall Male and Female finishers. Awards will include Finger Lakes Swag bags from local FLX businesses, with a choice of local wine or sparkling grape juice and gift cards to our great community.
Award Presentation will start at 12:00 pm at Lake Drum Brewing after the 5K.
The following Age Groups will be recognized in the race results:
- 10 and under
- 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69
- 70 and above
We also have a Solar Eclipse costume contest for the best costume for the event. This prize will be a surprise for the day of the event so get creative!
Event T-shirt
All registered participants will receive a commemorative eclipse-themed T-shirt. If registered by March 1, 2024 you will be guaranteed a race shirt. However, if registering after March 1st, a shirt might not be available.
Course Map
The 5K course will use a variety of running surfaces which will include multi-use trails and roads. The Start and Finish of the race will be just outside of the Finger Lakes Welcome Center.
