Description

Join us on Saturday 11/25 at 9 am as we host a timed 5K run to raise funds locally for Dutchess Outreach.  100% of the race fees collected will be donated to Dutchess Outreach, Fleet Feet will be covering all race expenses such as timing, porta potties, and age group awards.

Dutchess Outreach acts as a catalyst for community revitalization and exists in Dutchess County as an advocate and provider of hunger and relief services in order to ensure that everyone, regardless of income, has access to fresh, healthy food, and the support they need. More information can be found at: http://dutchessoutreach.org/

The 5K timed run will start and end at Stringham Park in the town of Lagrangeville.  Course map can be found here.  Participants will start with a loop around the track, exit the park making a left on Stringham road, take a left on Vincent, make a right on Exeter, loop back onto Stringham to head back and then finally end with a lap around the track.  The course is flat however the roads are open to traffic and participants should use caution when registering minors or others who may not be comfortable running on the road with cars.

The giveaways for this event will be items that are 100% recycled from other events.  Every participant will receive a race bib and a finisher medal from another event.  This year we are also doing custom hand-made age group awards (10-year age groups) as well.  Since this race is generally a small field, everyone who runs has a great chance of winning a custom age group award.  We have a limited number of custom turkey trot hats available for purchase ($15) and 100% of these funds will also be donated to Dutchess Outreach.

We will also be collecting donations for Dutchess Outreach and those who donate will be entered to win $10 Fleet Feet bucks which we will raffle off at the end of the event.  Below is a list of needed items:
* Non-perishable food items that are at least 6 months from expiration and are in original undamaged packaging.
* Diapers (any size) and baby wipes
* Baby formula especially Enfamil
* New & unopened personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, and body lotion.

Additional Information & FAQs

Is the race dog/stroller friendly?
This event takes place on roads that are open to traffic and is therefore not safe for strollers or dogs.

Is there a minimum age for participation?
There is no minimum age for participation. Parents should use their judgment when registering minors to ensure that they are comfortable running on roads with traffic, that they can understand instructions for following instructions for where to turn, and that they have the ability to complete the distance without any assistance.

Are these events open to walkers? Are there any time limits?
We need to exit the park by 10:15 am so we will need all runners and walkers to complete the 5K by 10 am.

What happens if the weather is bad?
The event will take place rain or shine, we would only cancel should road conditions be too treacherous for travel.  We do not have a specific alternate date locked in so please keep that in mind when registering.

Will there be any water on the course?
We will have a small water station set up near the start/finish but participants should plan to bring anything that they anticipate needing.
