About
The SMH community was deeply saddened by the untimely death of Christopher H. Griswold ‘73 on November 1, 1992, at the age of 37.
Chris was an untiring worker, as Vice President of the SMH Alumni Association, active in the SMH Bingo Program, and Parent Guild, coached SMH Freshman basketball for five years and he was very instrumental in up-grading the SMH Basketball Grade School Tournament. He was always willing to donate much of his time in the form of unpaid officiating of the Tournament, resulting in the recruitment of a large number of incoming students to his alma mater. His devotion to athletics was also shown by his donation of time in coaching both the baseball and basketball teams at St. Mary’s elementary.
Chris, himself, also had an outstanding athletic career, while a student at SMH in football, baseball and basketball and he was voted All-Catholic in both baseball and football. In his senior year, he was voted as the “Outstanding Athlete of the Year”.
His absence has left a great void here at St. Mary’s High School and in the Lancaster- Depew community.
Proceeds to benefit Scholarship Fund of St. Mary’s.
