Join us for a fast, flat 5K at TOBAY Beach, over an eclectic, scenic course that includes the Marina and the Wildlife Preserve.
The Charitable Beneficiary for this event is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Its mission: Save Lives and Bring Hope to Those Affected by Suicide.
Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death.
AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP creates a culture that’s smart about mental health by engaging in the following core strategies:
Funding scientific research
Educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention
Advocating for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention
Supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide in our mission
Led by CEO Robert Gebbia and headquartered in New York, and with a public policy office in Washington, D.C., AFSP has local chapters in all 50 states with programs and events nationwide. The Long Island Chapter carries out AFSP's mission on Long Island.
All participants of both the live and virtual events will receive a short-sleeved, tri-blend tee - unisex sizing.
There will be a LIVE, socially distant awards ceremony after the race!
There will be overall awards for the top male and female overall and top male and female masters in the live event
Medals for the live event will be awarded to the top 3 male and female in the following age groups 14 and under, 15-19, so on and so forth up to 90+
Runner’s Edge will also award:
$50 gift cards to Overall Male and Overall Female
$25 gift cards to Overall Master’s Male and Master’s Female
Awards will be presented during a LIVE post-race ceremony with social distancing protocol in place.
There will be no awards for the virtual event.
All participants in both the live AND virtual events will be entered into the door prize drawing for two $25 gift cards generously donated by Runner's Edge. Participants need not be present to win. Drawing will take place after the virtual racing period comes to a close, and winners will be notified by e-mail and their gift cards will be sent to them via USPS mail.
THERE WILL BE NO DAY-OF-RACE- REGISTRATION. ALL REGISTRATION WILL BE DONE IN ADVANCE.
Due to COVID protocols, Live Race is limited to 300 participants.
Note: if you wish to run with your family members, you should coordinate to register at the same time! Bibs are assigned upon registration, and corrals will be assigned based upon bib number!

Individual Entry for in-person event - $35, $30 for GLIRC Members
Late Registration - Wednesday, April 21 @ 6:00 PM - Friday April 23 @ 11:00 PM (please note that late registration opens 1 hour after early registration ends. Also, if registering after 6pm on Friday, April 23- your bib will be available for pick-up on race morning);

Entry fee for virtual race is $35, $30 for GLIRC Members. There are no awards for the virtual events. Registration will close at 11:59 pm on Saturday May 1st. Results can be posted from 12:00 AM Saturday April 24th through Saturday May 1st.
We STRONGLY encourage you to pick up your bib ahead of time if you are at all able to do so! When you pick up your bib, you will be receiving your bib only. Your race giveaway (shirt) will be available in the grab-and-go bag area once you have crossed the finish line.

Thursday, April 22 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at the GLIRC Clubhouse located at 101 Dupont St #24 Plainview, NY 11803
Friday, April 23 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Runner's Edge 242 Main St. Farmingdale, NY 11735
Saturday, April 24 from 7:30 AM - 8:45AM at race check-in.
If you signed up at late registration, your name will not be on the pickup list. It would be helpful if you knew your bib number when you arrived at bib pick-up.
You can pick up a bib for someone else (not on race day - you must pick up your own bib). If possible please bring their bib number to facilitate pickup.
Check in will take place from 7:30 AM to 8:45 AM at TOBAY Beach at the northwest side of the parking lot. You must wear a mask at all times.
If you have not picked up your bib ahead of time (it is STRONGLY encouraged that you do so, however, to make race day go more smoothly!), you may do so at check-in. Your race giveaway will be available near the distribution of the grab-and-go finisher's bag that you will collect once you cross the finish line and your race has ended.
When you arrive at the race site, your temperature will be taken with an infrared thermometer. If your temperature is below 100 degrees, the volunteer will mark your bib. If your temperature is 100 degrees or above, you will be asked to leave and you will not be able to participate.
All participants will be required to bring with them the completed COVID Health Screening form. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE FORM. After you hand in the form you will be given a bracelet which you will need to show in order to participate.
** PLEASE print and fill out your COVID health form ahead of time and bring it with you so that we keep the area clear of clusters and safe for everyone.

Parking is available in the TOBAY Beach parking lot - there will be someone there to guide you. It is strongly suggested that you leave your belongings in your vehicle, and carry everything you need with you. We will not be responsible for personal belongings.
Masks must be worn at all times when not running. You can remove your mask once you start but must put it back on once you finish.
There will be NOT be an aid station for this event. There will be bottled water at the finish and in the grab and go bag. You must bring your own hydration for pre-race and for the course.
You must have your bib pinned to the front of your clothing and visible at all times so that we know you are part of the race and that you are easily identifiable in photos. We have bib belts for sale that will help facilitate that available HERE.
All race day activities will take place outside. There will not be any indoor facility on race day. If the bathrooms are not yet open for the season, porta- potties will be provided.
When you are finished, you will be given a grab and go finisher bag which will contain your prewrapped post-race refreshments. Your race shirt will also be handed out in the Grab and Go area.
*** Please note: Dogs are NOT allowed at TOBAY Beach***
Participant instructions will be sent prior to race day with more information regarding race day procedures.
If you are registered for the live race but would like to transfer to the virtual race, this option is available through 11:59pm on Friday, April 23. If you cannot run the live event for ANY reason, switch to the virtual event so that your race giveaway will be automatically mailed to you once the virtual race period has ended on May 1.

You may run your race anywhere you choose at your own convenience and post your results anytime between April 24 and May 1 2021. Complete your run, and upload your results and photos on the race website HERE. (You can also go to your RunSignUp profile, go to your Upcoming races, and click on Submit Virtual Results. ) **Don't forget to print out your finisher's certificate after you submit your time by going back to the results! **
