About EVLovesNYC
EVLovesNYC, a not-for-profit food bank in the East Village, has been making delicious, hot meals for food-insecure New Yorkers since COVID began. We are lean and scrappy: 100% volunteer-powered and operating on private donations with no city, state or federal money. We turn out nutritious and tasty meals for around $2.30 each and share them for free with the people that need them most. We work with dozens of partner organizations — mutual aids, churches, community fridges, mosques, a lady with a card table in Washington Square Park. Our partners pick up boxes of our meals and distribute them to those in need throughout the city from the Bronx to Brownsville, from eastern Queens to Chinatown. In April 2024, we served our 500,000th meal and we’ll keep on cooking until things get better.
