Race Start Time and Location:

On August 27, we are back at the world most iconic city park, Central Park, for our 39th annual New York City Relay/Duathlon.  Unlike our March edition, the race will be held in the middle of NYC summer!  For our August edition, we include a team relay race with row boat!  Yes, you heard it right.  We have received an official confirmation from Central Park and the new owner of the Central Park Boat House.  Our relay row boat is back!
What this means is that you can register to race in the duathlon as an individual competitor.  If you choose to register in the team relay race row boat, you and your team partner will be rowing (boat) in the third leg, final part of the race.
The race starts at 7:30am and finishes by the Central Park Boat House parking lot. Both Run #1 and #2 is 2.2 miles each, in out/back format.  You run along the east side and making a turn around point by the 96th street. No significant elevation gain other than at the beginning you have to run up the Cat's Paw hill.  For the relay row boat competitors, you head to the boat dock on your third leg of the race instead.  Your team would row around the Central Park Lake, 1 loop, .7 mile.

The bike route consists of riding 2 loops around the entire Central Park drive. As a result of the current construction in the Harlem section of the park, Harlem Hill, we are skipping it. Instead, riders would loop around and to the west side through the 102nd street Traverse. Effectively, you are riding 5 miles per loop, 10 miles in total. The total elevation gain is about 250ft per loop. Is still a challenging route for most athletes.

Duathlon (individuals):

  • Run distance is 2.2 miles.
  • Bike distance is 10 miles (2 loops).
  • Run distance is 2.2 miles.

Team Relay Row Boat (two people):

  • Run distance is 2.2 miles.
  • Bike distance is 10 miles (2 loops).
  • Row Boat distance is.7 mile (1 loop in Central Park Lake).
