Description
The second annual 5K Run to Remember is in support of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, hosted by The Sand Bar in Ocean Beach, Fire Island. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors the sacrifice of Firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. The Sand Bar and the Ocean Beach community strives to support the Tunnel to Towers foundation and its mission to "honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country".
5K Run to Remember will begin and end at the Sand Bar. The sign up fee will include an after party at the Sand Bar and swag bag, which includes a t-shirt (specific sizing will be given on a first come first serve basis). The first 200 runners are guaranteed a t-shirt and swag bag. The price of the run will be $50 (+registration and processing fees) until July 4th and then it will be $60 (+registration and processing fees) July 5th until race day.
After Party
The after party, at the Sand Bar, will include free Nutrls for all runners (21+) until 12PM, a free bagel buffet, and the amazing Jimmy and the Parrots Band!!!
From 12PM-2PM there will be $5 Nutrls for everyone!
Bib/ Swag Bag Pickup
Early bib/swag bag pickup will take place at the Sand Bar in Ocean Beach, Fire Island on Saturday July 27th from 12PM until 3PM. Participants are welcome to have someone else pick up their bibs and swag bag for them. All participants who pick up their bib and swag bag early, in person, from 12PM-3PM will be entitled to one free Nutrl (if 21+).
Packets/swag bag may also be picked up on race morning in front of the Sand Bar in Ocean Beach, Fire Island from 7:30AM until 9AM.
Awards
Awards will be given to the top Male and Female overall and the top three Males and Females in each of the following categories: Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+ at 11 AM!
Bag Check
Sandbar will have a bag check at the starting line for all runners who need a space for their belongings, which will be watched by our bouncers and staff. Please try to bring as little as possible to the race. Sandbar is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Ocean Beach Ferry Schedule
