Dear Bampa’s House 5K Runners and Walkers,
We were looking forward to seeing you in person at the Fourth Annual Bampa’s House 5K Run/Walk. However, we have been notified by the Steuben County Health Department that we will be unable to race in person this year.
Therefore, we have decided to switch to a virtual race only. You can complete a 3.1 mile run or walk between now and September 19, 2020. Upon completion of your run or walk, you can submit your time to email@example.com and your name will be entered into a random drawing for our fantastic prizes from our great sponsors!
We are attaching a map of the Bampa’s House 5K course if you would like to complete that course as your 3.1 miles, or you can complete the 3.1 miles at a location of your choice.
We will be mailing the race t-shirts to participants who signed up in time for a t-shirt.
If you are interested in a refund, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We will miss you and hope to see you in person next year!
The Bampa’s House 5K Committee
Bampa's House takes COVID-19 very seriously. We will do everything in our power to offer a safe and fun event for all participants. We have taken several steps to ensure the safety of all participants, staff members, volunteers, and spectators. These steps are in accordance with NY State government & CDC guidelines, and include:
1.) All participants/spectators/volunteers are asked to wear a mask until social distancing is possible after the start of the race.
2.) The race start has been altered slightly so we can socially distance the start of the race. Your timing starts when you go over the start line.
3.) The Kids Fun Run has been cancelled as we cannot social distance at the start.
4.) Water and fruit will be pre-packaged.
5.) Hand sanitizer will be readily available.
6.) CDC COVID-19 will be displayed at the event.
7.) Participants are encouraged not to hang around the start/finish area when they are finished.
8.) Awards will be available at Bampa's House for pick up beginning September 14th.
9.) Race results can be found at our timer's website: https://falconracetiming.com/events/category/2020-race-results/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=past.
The Board of Directors of Bampa’s House in the Corning have announced that they will be sponsoring the Fourth Annual 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Craig Park in Painted Post, NY. The purpose of the race is to raise money for Bampa’s House and celebrate the life of Jim Dugan, the namesake of Bampa’s House. Jim, who was called Bampa by his grandchildren, was a life-long resident of the Corning-Painted Post area, spending his career at Corning Community College, volunteering through the Lions Club, and facilitating beer tastings at The Site.
Participants are encouraged to run or walk the 3.1 mile course that includes the beautiful Painted Post Trail and winds through the streets of Painted Post where Jim lived. There will also be a Kid’s Fun Run prior to the 5K race where children under 10 can participate. A virtual race option has been added for those that are out of town and would still like to participate. NEW THIS YEAR! BECOME A FUNDRAISER FOR BAMPA'S HOUSE! Collect donations through your own fundraising page, easy to set up!
All proceeds from the race will be put towards Bampa’s House. Bampa’s House (Corning Comfort Care, Inc.) is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing a safe and comfortable place for people to receive end-of-life care when home care is not an option.
