The Public Universal Friend was an enigmatic religious founder and leader in the late 18th and early 19th century. The Friend and the followers of their sect, the Society of Universal Friends, were the first non-native settlers of what is now Yates County, New York. As we celebrate the county's bicentennial, join us as we follow the route of the Public Universal Friend and their followers as they created their sect, moved from New England and found a new home in Yates County.
